Hi,
I have noticed my male lovebird was losing feathers from the legs and the neck, to be more exact in the throat and upper chest zone. Now it is almost bald in this zone even if he has canons (new feathers sticks) incoming.
I have an anti mite drops named pulmosan I brought from Spain and I put a drop in his neck skin at the back.
Let's see what happens these days if not I will take him to the vet. He is fine flies sings plays bites... so I don't know if it's hormonal disorder or what...
The female has been with him all this time and she doesn't have any issue.

I think anti mite drops go in the water not on the bird.If he had mites I'm sure the female would get them too and it could be her plucking his feathers.I would keep a close eye on them and make sure its not her plucking him.

I would agree that he is probably plucking. It's most often behavioral, but there could be a physical cause, and I would take him to an avian vet for an evaluation..

I would still keep a close eye on it. A heavy molt is not the norm for parrots. They come mostly from warm climates, so have no need for the stress of a quick set of new feathers. You typically can't tell when they are molting except for the feathers on the floor.

They grew back a long time ago, He just went heavy on his head and had a little bald patch but his pin feathers have come off and he has a bright shiny head lol.He never lost any feathers on his neck I just thought he did.
